Partaking in the newest plans to bring a more balanced profile to the Sandyford area, The Boulevard is a Frenchinspired, mixed-use development, comprising residential, retail, leisure and cultural components. It will exhibit a European sense of luxury, leisure and colour to Sandyford, and connect to the city centre by being right beside the Luas terminus. (A dedicated pedestrian bridge is proposed to link the Luas terminus directly to The Boulevard.)
In a way, and particularly since the arrival of Luas, Sandyford is the natural home for an Irish boulevard neighbourhood, because it was for the periphery of the capital city that the Parisian concept of the boulevard was first conceived as relief from the commotion of the city centre.
With a more ornamental architectural brief than is common today, and an unashamedly French-styled shopping ambience including tree-lined cobbled streets, elaborate street architecture, narrow passages lined with shop canopies. The Boulevard will be a charming destination for people to stroll around at their ease and enjoy the atmosphere of galleries, cafes, and speciality shops.
